NANOVEA Profilometry Lab Services offer surface profiling capabilities to measure surface roughness, finish, profile, texture and more.
Our laboratory services are performed using Chromatic Confocal technology using NANOVEA non-contact profilometers. Chromatic Confocal technology uses wavelengths of light that can accurately determine physical height to measure surface texture and its features. Our technology enables measurements of samples in seconds, regardless of geometric complexity, size or material type: transparent and opaque, low to high reflectivity, smooth to rough texture, and step heights from nanometers to millimeters all without scratching or damaging the sample. Our equipment can provide the characteristics of a material’s surface variation per a given standard and specification ranging from ASTM and ISO standardized testing to custom solutions for your application.

PROFILOMETERS
NANOVEA Profilometers are 3D, non-contact surface profiling systems designed with Chromatic Confocal technology, which uses wavelengths of light to accurately determine physical height. NANOVEA optical profilometer models include Fully Portable Profilometers, Compact Profilometer, Large Area Profilometers and Superior Stability Profilometer.
With a single profilometer scan, a wide range of measurements can be obtained such as 3D waviness, roughness, step height and/or film thickness to advanced fractal analysis and microstructure/particle characterization.
Chromatic Confocal technology uses white light that passes through a series of lenses with high degree of chromatic aberrations. Each wavelength will focus at a different distance creating the vertical measurement range. When a surface of interest is within the measurement range a single wavelength of the white light will be in focus while all others will be out of focus. Only the focused wavelength will pass through the pin hole filter to reach the CCD spectrometer. The physical wavelength measured corresponds to a vertical position.
