Una punta piatta, a spillo o a sfera viene caricata su un campione di prova con un peso preciso e in una posizione specifica rispetto al centro di rotazione. Quando il campione inizia a ruotare, la punta crea una traccia di usura rotazionale. Il coefficiente di attrito viene misurato con precisione dalla deflessione di una cella di carico, calibrata con precisione. Grazie all'encoder di posizione esterno integrato a 16 bit, \u00e8 possibile visualizzare l'attrito per qualsiasi posizione o zona specifica per ogni passaggio del ciclo. Inoltre, l'encoder di velocit\u00e0 interno a 20 bit garantisce variazioni rapide e uniformi della velocit\u00e0 di rotazione da 0,01 a 5000 giri\/min. durante un singolo test, fornendo un coefficiente di attrito accurato rispetto alla velocit\u00e0. Le velocit\u00e0 fino a 0,01 giri\/min sono essenziali per studiare l'attrito nella zona statica e per comprendere meglio la transizione tra coefficiente di attrito statico e cinetico.
