Les rayures profondes observ\u00e9es sur les \u00e9chantillons sugg\u00e8rent que le contact entre le mat\u00e9riau statique et la jupe du piston se produit fr\u00e9quemment tout au long de l'essai. La viscosit\u00e9 \u00e9lev\u00e9e \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante peut emp\u00eacher l'huile de remplir compl\u00e8tement les interstices aux interfaces et cr\u00e9er un contact m\u00e9tal-m\u00e9tal. \u00c0 une temp\u00e9rature plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e, l'huile s'amincit et peut s'\u00e9couler entre la goupille et le piston. Par cons\u00e9quent, on observe une usure nettement moindre \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e. La FIGURE 5 montre qu'un c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la marque d'usure s'est us\u00e9 nettement moins que l'autre c\u00f4t\u00e9. Cela est tr\u00e8s probablement d\u00fb \u00e0 l'emplacement de la sortie d'huile. La diff\u00e9rence de COF est une preuve suppl\u00e9mentaire que l'huile n'a pu mouiller correctement qu'un seul c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l'axe. Un COF \u00e9lev\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 obtenu lorsqu'un film \u00e9pais s'est form\u00e9 entre l'axe et la jupe du piston en raison de la lubrification hydrodynamique qui s'est produite.
