Cela permet d'obtenir des donn\u00e9es tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cises sur le taux d'usure. Les taux d'usure du pion ou de la bille et de l'\u00e9chantillon peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre calcul\u00e9s \u00e0 partir du volume de mat\u00e9riau perdu mesur\u00e9 avec un AFM ou un profilom\u00e8tre optique. Le mode lin\u00e9aire avec mesure de la friction est possible avec la table motoris\u00e9e x-y standard, tandis que le test rotatif n\u00e9cessite une table rotationnelle (option).
