MICROINDENTATION | MICROHARDNESS TESTING

Retrofitted on Platform or Compact Base, the Micro Module during Micro Scratch Mode uses superior patented testing methods for characterizing the scratch adhesion properties of thicker coatings and resistance of bulk materials.
Micro Scratch Process:
Based from ASTM C1624, ASTM D7027 & ASTM G171. During Micro Scratch Adhesion Testing a sharp metal tip or Rockwell C diamond, to draw across the coated surface with an increasing load, resulting in various types of failure at specific critical loads. Micro Scratch | Adhesion Testing identifies critical loads optically using a built-in video microscope. Once known, these critical loads are used to quantify the adhesive and cohesive properties of different film/substrate combinations. Additionally, Micro Scratch Adhesion Testing identifies failure points by using frictional force, optional acoustic emission and depth measurement. These parameters constitute a unique signature of the coating/substrate system.
Properties Analyze During Micro Scratch:
• Types of failure: Cohesive & Adhesive • Adhesion strength • Marring (Resistance) & cracking initiation • Plastic & Elastic Deformation Depth & others
